Students Protest against Sexism

March 13, 2014 at 10:05

Students, societies, staff and graduates of NUI Maynooth are holding a demonstration on campus tomorrow about the culture of sexism promoted by Maynooth Students' Union.
The protest is due to take place Thursday 13th March at 12pm outside the John Hume building.

The protest is as a result of an event held by the NUIM SU on the evening of March 3rd 2014.  Strippers were paid to strip naked and perform lap dances to students as part of mock stag night. This event was attended by NUIM SU officals and took place in the SU Bar. It was advertised by the SU as an official event.

The organisers believe that events like this contravene the idea of the SU as a safe space and that they promote sexism.

Join the demonstration outside JH, 12pm this Thursday.
